Located on the highest floor of a 16th-century monastery, a true protagonist in the history of Vieste and set in the heart of the historic centre, Suite Mare Selene brings together history, authenticity and Mediterranean beauty. Every stone has been carefully brought back to light, every detail chosen to respect the original soul of the place — a retreat where time seems to slow down and the gaze drifts toward the blue of the sea.
Entering Suite Mare Selene feels like discovering a hidden room within history: spacious, light-filled interiors where arches and large original openings, intentionally preserved, allow the authentic beauty of the building to breathe. Here, history is a gentle presence, coexisting with the understated comfort of a thoughtful restoration.
The living area and bedroom are conceived as a single, fluid space. We chose to keep the historic openings open — without internal doors — in order to preserve visual continuity and the building’s original atmosphere. The bed is a comfortable king-size (180 × 200) with a memory-foam mattress.
The kitchen and the large bathroom washbasin are crafted from Apricena Gargano stone, a tribute to local tradition that dialogues naturally with authentic materials and understated finishes.
The bathroom area is designed as a small private spa and is divided into two distinct spaces. One features a large, hand-carved stone washbasin; the other offers a spa area with a bathtub and two sea-view showers, created to provide both wellbeing and a sense of openness — like a quiet ritual of relaxation after a day at the beach.
Suite Mare Selene is ideal for couples or families of up to four guests.
Modern comforts meet the ancient soul of the house: air conditioning in all rooms, Wi-Fi connection, and two smart TVs for moments of relaxation. Every detail has been selected to ensure practicality without compromising the elegance of the space.
The conservative restoration of this home was carried out with care and respect, to honour the historic identity of the residence.
(The apartment is accessed by climbing several stairs, as is typical of historic buildings of this period.)
